10 Man Raids
With the Introduction of changes in Cata for 10 man guild operations, we will be focused as a guild on a single 10 man raid. This does not mean that with the introduction of 3-4 10 man raids, that we will always take the SAME 10 people to the 10 man. Merely that we will only try and focus on main filling one "full" run for each dungeon.
Loot Rules
Edge of Chaos uses the following rolls for gear:
- Main spec Raider
- Main Spec recruits & Members
- Off-spec Raider
- Open Roll
- Disenchant
Cloth first....
While i do understand that sometimes that cloth hat is the Best in Slot for your Shaman's elemental spec - we have to respect that there is more competition for cloth than any other type of armor. As a result - if you wish to roll for your MAIN SPEC, and the Gear is NOT your MAIN ARMOR TYPE you may roll ONE step behind the others.
So for example, Cloth Headpiece drops:
- Main Spec Raider Cloth Users
- Main spec recruits & members & leather/mail/plate Main spec Raiders
- Off-Spec Raiders & leather/mail/plate Main spec Recruits & raiders
- Open Roll
Greens and Blues
Green and blue drops will go to the Designated Dis-enchanter. They will turn these into mats. The guild will use these mats to ASSIST you in enchanting gear. This is first come, first serve. You will need to provide any mats that the guild cannot.
BoE Items
Bind on Equip Items will be rolled upon in the following order:
- Main spec Raider
- Main Spec recruits & Members
- Guild Bank
BoE gear for offspecs or alts, etc may be purchased from the guild bank.
BoE gear won during a raid - MUST immediately be equipped - you don't have to keep it on (missing gems and enchants) we just want to make sure people are serious about items they ask for.
When We raid
Our official progression raid times are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from 7pm-10/10:30pm CST (Server time). 8pm- 11/11:30 pm EST
- Invites go out around 6:45pm
- Everyone inside the instance, buffed and ready to pull by 7pm.
What we raid
The officers of Edge of Chaos decide what we raid.
Although we encourage members to give their opinion on all things concerning the guild, this is not a true democracy. We do what’s best for the guild with general acknowledgment of individual needs.
Invites to raids
Invites go out in the following order:
- Raiders
- Recruits
- Members
Keep in mind, we may bring in a recruit, or even a member and ask a raider to sit if we need to maintain class balance.
At raid time, final group organization will be completed - just because your in the raid prior to raid time does not guarantee raid availability. We do the best we can to balance the raid.
Invites after we are full of raiders/Recruits - are on standby, pending raid class balance.
Members may be swapped out after a boss or two if standby are needed to progress (some fights are gear checks) or class balance.
Class Balance
With the exception of encounters that need specific classes or roles we generally follow the following group makeup:
- (2) Two Tanks
- (2) Two Main Healers
- (2) Melee DPS
- (2) Ranged DPS
- (1) Either DPS
- (1) Healer/DPS
Boss strat discussions
- While we appreciate useful tips before a new boss; please keep them short an consise.
- all comments should be Under 15 seconds idealy.
- If asked for Quiet, please - it's time to pull.
- Don't talk a boss strat to death.
Member strat contributions
30 minutes before a raid starts is a good time to start up a conversation about strats and such with the officers or members that will be running the raid. In addition, any time other than during a raid.
Raid leading
"Every raid leader has this moment. You're trying to get the raid ready for a boss attempt, but you just can't get people to focus. Someone's taking a quick bio. Two people are still arguing over the loot from three bosses ago. Another person is whispering you ill-conceived advice for changing your strategy. People seem to be more interested in listening to your healing lead talk in Vent about a movie she just saw than they are in buffing or putting on resist gear. Then someone that you can't replace DC's for the eighth time that night and you just snap. You wonder if it's worth it. You wonder what it would be like to be a grunt rather than a general. Someone who just follows orders and doesn't have to worry about anyone but themselves. Sprinkle in some real-life stress in your life and retiring from raid leading suddenly seems very appealing." <ref>http://www.wow.com/tag/raid-leading/</ref>
Raid Leading is tougher than it looks. Not only do you need to be a virtual expert on the fights - you need to have a general knowledge of all aspects of the game, a good sense of cordination, spacial awareness for yourself and the rest of the guild.
Raid Preparedness
We expect you to be prepared for Raids in the following ways:
Not being prepared
When your not prepared, your saying that our time (the other people in the raid/guild) is not important to you. That makes us sad.
Sad people become mad people if sad too long:
- The first warning is free. This is your first warning. There are plenty of people willing to help you - occasionally FOR FREE.
- 1st in raid warning; No invited to raid if there are standby folks OR -10 Karma for being unprepared
- 2nd warning; No invited to raid if there are standby folks OR -25 Karma for being unprepared
- Repeat offenders; Temporary Rank demotion to non-raider and -25 Karma
- Just keeping it up; We'll be forced to ask you to seek a guild membership elsewhere.
Boss Strats
You are expected to read a strat on the boss and watch a video on the boss fight PRIOR to the raid.
- Explaining the fight is for a quick reminder.
- Explaining the way we might do things different than the strat.
- Establishing roles for the fight.
Timeliness
We like to make the most out of our allotted raiding time and having the raid wait on a few people is counterproductive to that. We’ll make every effort not to waste your time, please don’t waste ours. You are expected to be just outside the zone-in for whichever dungeon we are attending. If it has not been announced, you may alternately reside in Dalaran until the zone is announced.
Warlock Summons
It's very nice of warlocks to summon folks. Don't make them do it every time. If you log on and need something from the Auction house, Consider using an Alt to buy it and mail - rather than gating to Orgrimar and needing a summon from a warlock. It's your responsibility to be at the zone on time, not the warlock's to summon you.
Gear Improvements
Gems
All gear from raid dungeons should be gemmed with Epic (purple) quality gems. All other gear may be optionally gemmed with Rare (blue) quality gems.
Enchants
All gear for your primary raiding set should have the top quality enchants. All other gear may be enchanted with the best, or optionally enchanted with the "next best thing".
Specs
We expect you to have one 'raiding' spec that is the optimal for your class for your role. We acknowledge that some specs are more fun, more utilitarian, or otherwise unique in some way - feel free to set your 2nd spec to this. We may ask you to switch specs if we heavily disagree with your choices, and this is both frustrating for us and you.
Attitude during raids
The goal of our raids is to get through as much content as possible during our allotted raid times. We also want to have fun. While jokes, sexual humor, etc might bring us joy - wiping on content because no one is paying attention makes us all sad panda's indeed.
We have 3 focus levels:
Farm content Trash
You may cut up, and have fun during the trash for farm content. This lasts until we wipe to something stupid. At that point - it's time to focus. Some raiders do not have the capacity to ignore your humor or speaches and stay focused on keeping the raids moving. Some do. So long as we're being effective - we'll allow it.
- if you need to go afk during this time, Autofollow a friend, whisper an officer, and let the raid know.
Progressive Content Trash
It's time to focus. Often, progressive content trash has surprises that can effect us in greatly negative ways. No one wants to have to clear additional trash - and no one wants extra repair bills. While you don't have to maintain 'radio silence' you do need to be awake and focused.
- No afks please.
Boss Fights
- Pause the Movie
- Close the p0rn windows on the web browsers
- tell the wife/girlfriend/musicians/parents/boytoys/etc that its a boss fight and you need 15 minutes of uninterrupted focus.
- If you need to speak on vent - turn off background music; Fans; etc - we have enough noise.
- Put down the Beer.
- toss the cat to the floor.
- etc etc etc
It's time to focus. That means, no extra chatter, no alt-tabing out to check your e-mail, etc. Even if you die - you might get a battle rez. Did i mention - time to focus? Gear is rarely as important as your personal willingness to concentrate for the 10 minutes avarage that it takes to down a boss.
Boss is dead
Ok.. i guess there is a 4th. After the boss is dead - you can take a brief moment to go bat-shit crazy happy :)
Bad Raider, Bad
Some things that are heavily frowned upon include:
- Constant AFK’s or “Ninja” AFK’s. Doing this will get you removed from a raid.
- Begging to bring alts to progression raid nights because you don’t “need” anything. In our eyes this is very selfish behavior and can get you removed from raid as well as losing your raid status. No one person can do this alone. After the raid has helped you get yours, you WILL be expected to help the rest of the group.
- Leaving the raid abruptly. We understand that life comes at you fast and sometimes you just can’t help it, but if you know in advance you have to leave a raid you need to let an officer know 30 minutes prior so we can find a replacement. Idealy - find your own replacement from the standby members.
- Not being prepared for raids - See the section above for details.
Standby
- You may be placed on standby for raids.
- If your on time for the raid, or join the raid at any point during the night, you will be given credit for raid attendance.
- If you desire to ensure your given credit for raid attendance; ask an officer to invite you to "group 8" for standby when you log on.
- You do not need to remain in the raid.
- abusers of this (example: logging on long enough to get credit, then not being available when needed) will have their karma deducted.
- standby members do not need to remain at the zone in or on their mains.
- play an alt (watch guild chat or be on vent)
- do dailies
- do not join another raid or 5 man see group behavior
Raiding with Other Guilds/Pugs
Pugging or joining other guilds on raids for 10 man content is against guild policy unless it is for older content that we are not currently running.
- Warning for the first offence
- Demotion and Karma loss for 2nd offence
- Removal from the guild for repeat offenders.
The reason we ask this is because we need every one unlocked or locked only to our raid(s) so we will be able to have replacements for the guild raid in the event that we need them.
The following exceptions:
- . If we have not defeated the PVP boss by Thursday feel free to pug it.
- . Monday (Day before instance resets) is a Free Pug day. You may pug Any Content
- . After the guild run for that instance has been Cleared. If the guild cleared ulduar on Tuesday, you are more than welcome to pug the instance on any day there-after.
- . You can pug if you have permission from the officers (permission isn't hard to obtain, it's about communication to your guild mates). There are some situations where some ones schedule changes. School, Work, ect... Example. You get a new job and it ends up being a night job, night school, etc and you would not be able to raid with us.
"PUG RAID best practices"
- PUG raids are not covered by guild policy, and so of course may choose to use any system of distribution they desire. Please try to be fair, so the officers don't hear a bunch of complaints about it.
- If you have a disagreement with the way someone is handling invites, talk to that person. The officers of the guild cannot spend the time to "build" these other groups.
- If you think they are unfair - remember, people typically run these things for friends. Would you kick your friend out of the group to invite a guildie?
- Complaining doesn't do anything positive. Find better ways to handle your conflict.
- Talk nicely to the person(s) running the raids.
- Find a different group to run with.
25 Man Raids
Officially, the guild no longer runs 25 man groups as an organized raid. Many of the guildies put together groups - to accomplish personal goals. You MAY be able to join one of those groups. However, if not - please feel free to pug them. We have no problem with people raiding WOTLK or earlier content as you wish.
